El volcan llaima is gettig ready to let off some steam it seems...in the ninth region, northeast of Temuco and north west of Pucon....its something that occasionaly takes place. No lava yet but lots of smoke and some ash. Tremors can be felt but they are minor....the locals know its just something that has to happen from time to time....Santiaguinos with all thier summer homes in the balance are a little worried.

Say, do you know if the ski resort is still open? I have been meaning to go ski llaima for a while. Everyone says it is one of the best in the region.

If it is not, that is OK. I will just have to give new meaning to sking "off pista". Lava lit runs at night, off pista, followed by a steam bath in the newest thermas in South America. I think I will bring a photographer with, because I might not survive to report back.

I see they have closed the park and the ski center, and are implementing emergency plans. Hoping to get up there and take some photos.

I do say, you live life on the edge. Climbing volcanos is interesting enough, but skiing them, and then soaking in their springs, while erupting....hmmm....
