How can I possibly start doing this??? I've read everything I could find on this site and still am not clear.

But in short you should be able to do a transfer using your Swift code from your US bank and all of yor account and bank details from the US account, take it to the bank and have someone there process your transfer.

If you don't have a bank account you could have a trustworthy friend do it for you, but I rexommend against that.

You also have options like Western. Union if you have aomeone in the US who could receice tue money or even probably paypal. I've only sent money TO Chile so someone else could probably fill you in better

either way it costs a fortune, take cash on the plane

Could try xe.com, which gave 1.5% below their mid-market rate (probably better than the bank) plus your bank's USD wire transfer fee last time I used it, depositing as a local EFT transfer so there are no fees on the other end.

Cheapest way I found was using AFEX. At most it costs 15 luca. You have to go to a special location to do this though. Western Union is something crazy like 5% plus you can't send it to your bank, you have to send it to a person.
