If you're worried about servicing, then I promise you the only thing that won't be a headache to have serviced is the Ipad because apple has very strict service agreements with their resellers. All their products get the standard 1 year which you can extend to 3 with the apple care package. It's the only extended warranty that I ever found worth the cost, mostly because I can walk into any apple store anywhere in the world and they will fix or replace in a matter of days usually.
That being said, we have attempted to have both toshiba and samsung products serviced in Chile. You'll notice I said attempted. The samsung continued to have problem after it was fixed and the Toshiba was taken in before the warranty ran out and THEY took forever only to tell us the issue was not covered by the warranty. Except when I explained everything to the American office, they said it should be. So there you go. Both machines were out 2- 3 weeks and the build quality heartily convinced me to never again buy a samsung or Toshiba computer. That being said, I do like the samsung phones and tablets, they do build those well from what I can see. It's just computers that are not their forte apparently since ours crapped out within a year (screen).
So yes, if service is a worry, then even though there is no official apple store here in Chile, they have quite a few resellers and those maconline guys in particular really like to pretend like they're the real apple store. Servicing is much easier. If you're looking to buy in Chile, then buying from them directly will make it even easier.
If your heart is really set on on a slate pc, then from what I can see online, no one has seen one in Chile yet even though Samung Chile's head guy stated they would be available by year's end
http://bnamericas.mobi/news/technology/ ... e-year-endYou can't find the Asus slate either, except on mercado libre going for about $700.000 clp which is painfully overpriced considering the one being sold is used. Judging by that, the Samsung is bound to be around that or more here when it does become available. You'll probably have to try to get it in Oz or have someone from the States bring you one.
