Burn's Night Supper: Vegetarian Haggis

Postby john » Wed Jan 25, 2012 3:07 pm

Robert Burns would probably have lived a lot longer if there had been vegetarian haggis is his day. When I was a boy, my father (who was Scottish) insisted that our family eat haggis on Burn's night (January 25) ... memories that are, unfortunately, still with me.

Here's the last verse of Burn's Address to a Haggis:

Ye Pow'rs wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinkin ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu' prayer,
Gie her a haggis!

Thanks for the link, interesting :), the original one sounds and looks pretty gross, but the veggie version might be more appealing. Is there a chilean word for haggis?
