Spam Warning

Postby zer0nz » Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:15 am

Just received a email form "poderjudicial.cl" (or claiming to be), saying i have to pay a 4 UTM fine, it had my name, my rut, and my email address...

some webserver has been hacked in chile... god knows whos!, but it said i had to download the attachment and fill in the form, the attachment doesnt come up as a virus, but is some sort of exe i wasnt going to try and open....

Just a warning, watch out, even emails with your rut/name arrive, not always real!

funny thing, the hackers are using the systems own servers to send the spam, and storing all the images etc on the servers that were hacked, the email looks damn real!

Wouldnt be surprised if it was a inside job!

I've been seeing more targeted spam recently, even from outside Chile, eg. very similar copies of legitimate statements that I actually get from some company (at least a couple). Seems like some scammer group is actually putting a bit of manual effort into it. Still comes with some of the usual dead give-aways though if you read it properly.

in my example below, the dead giveaway was, chile government doing stuff online? that in its self was a giveaway, as i said to the people in the office, where are the 3 copies, all notarised, with finger print... personally delivered by a paco who doesnt have anything better to do.... chile doesnt get this efficient over night :)
