Hello from Liverpool UK

Postby thechubbyman » Wed Jan 18, 2012 1:29 pm

Hello, folks,

I know it's odd a Brit still based in Britain to join a forum like this, but I find other country's forums refreshing, new topics, ideas, new people of course, so, here I am. Although I'll be chipping in mainly on the spooky stories and mysteries threads to get Chilean flavoured nuggets, feel free to ask me anything about UK. The odds are I won't know the answer! But feel free to ask anyway.

Cheers

What's Pete Best up to these days? You're not him, are you?

Hello, El Zorro, nope, not Pete Best! He is 73 now, but is still drumming in a local band, well his and his son Roag's band, and in recent years he finally got some of the goodies he missed out on all those years ago, so he's good, I think. (I don't know him, but he does get a lot mentions in the local media as well as the nationals and the internet of course.

I used to drink with a childhood mate of John Lennon's and he reckoned that Paul is in fact dead.
What do you think?

An old old one this, nope, he's alive and well and auto-tuning his way around the world. On the general topic of well kept secrets, I think there's more to the Beatles' story, but I think these will remain secret. For instance the debacle of Northern Songs and how they lost control; why Eppie wanted to 'sell' them on, which was touched upon in the Anthology but not expanded as to why this was the case, and just how much or little did the Beatles actually play on the Polydor sessions. Over the years certain things came out which were not known before - George not playing much lead, instead it was Sheridan, things like that.

What do you think?

I saw him in Portsmouth about 5 years ago and he didn't look quite dead yet.

'ello Chubs. Some other Liverpool lads.

Saw them at........ jeez, I don't remember where. Milton Keynes? Anyway, I had the time of my life in England circa '80-'82. That was a great time to be, as some have said about young Americans in the military, "oversexed, overpaid and over here". :D
