Hello Chile expats!

My name is Frank Andreas Sposito. I'm a writer from California and I have been living in Lima, Peru, for the past year. I was in Buenos Aires for the year before that, and now I'm considering a move to Chile (Santiago?). I look forward to reading your cumulative posts on everything from immigration issues to the rental market to great places to visit. Allchile.net is definitely the wikipedia of the southern cone. Yes, Valparaiso, it is very inspiring. There is a ode on every sidewalk, impatiently awaiting the sweetest crushing kiss of shoe-sole. It reeks of that fetid unbrushed drunken breath that is Chilean kultur. And dog-shit and diesel and woodsmoke. And stale urine. The seafoam mucous of a thousand natural medications lifts its seminal trace upon the recalcitrant winds and seeks the mother of all allergens down your greying concrete channels. Everyone believes himself a Neruda whilst pissing in Valpo's doorways.

I thrust you into the air one Summer day

only to watch you land on the roof -
the rough, black speckled covering that smelt of tar
