Change work visa (sujeta a contrato) to "residencia temporal

Postby radek » Thu Jan 05, 2012 4:28 pm

Hi!

I would like to change my "visa sujeta a contrato" to a "residencia temporal" without changing the job or finishing the work contract. How can I do that? What are the steps?

Thanks a lot for the answers!

Saludos,

that sounds like a fun one....

what makes you qualified to get a residencia temporal? you have income from somewhere else?, you are going to be a student? you work for a church? you are married to a chilean?

i wouldnt be surprised if you have to start the whole process from the begining, but you might want to contact a specialist like spencerglobal, details at the bottem of the page......

Thanks for the reply!

Well, I would like to continue the work contract but just change the visa to have more oportunities to start a small business besides while working with the old employer.

Which is the chilean governmental institution to contact if you want to start a company?

It's in Spanish, but should be helpful.

Thanks for the link!

is it also possible if I start the company with 2 partners? In this case it would be a S.A. (Sociedad Anonima). One has Residencia Temporal and the other Residencia indefinida. I suppose, I would be represented by the lawyer in this case?

A Company needs a representative in Chile, but can be 100% foreign owned. The Chilean Representative may be the General Manager or just an appointee, their ability to sign cheques and carry out company business may be as narrow or broad as the Company owner wishes.

If you are forming a partnership you need a Lawyer to help you set it up so you don’t get screwed, it is common for foreigners in any country to get screwed over by the locals, not just Chile.
