On the page for Chile Forum Recent Topics it says "last reply by patagoniax at 31.12.1969" for this thread. Is anyone else seeing that or is it just me? Has someone mastered time travel in the far south?

All recent posts display that date for a while. It's really a wonderful quirk that let's you know when there is new reply on a particular thread.
I find it useful.

Not only have I mastered time-travel, but I have a velociraptor, and I know how to use it.

OK, I guess. Did something of great importance happen on that date. I wonder.

Around here we use sunlight to make the algae grow in the water to produce biodiesel. Grows lots of other animacules as well. The water tanks here seem to find their own nutrients. Not sure if that is what you had in mind. I suppose we could probably find enough U-238 to kill that stuff and make it safe to drink.

I wasn't really thinking of producing biodiesel. I'm just trying to find ways to decontaminate water. I was thinking of collecting or constructing some glass containers as part of my potable water system. They'd get lots of sunlight if I stored them on top of a bus, and I read that sunlight helps with decontamination. But I suppose it's a bit more complicated like everything else, since sunlight may also promote algae growth and biodiesel production.

And then you are going to get a Chilean Class B licence for two years and after that a Class A3 professional licence so you can drive the bus. Do let us know how it all turns out.

I wouldn't have to drive it. I really just need something to live in, when I buy some land, while I'm building my mud hut. It might be better than a yurt, since it's more secure, and off the ground, and it has lots of windows. I could store my water on top, instead of building a tower, and leave it exposed to sunlight for extra purification. The engine could be my backup generator, while I build my windmills. I could hire someone to drive it if I move. And It comes completely furnished with seats and curtains.

was the bus already convereted?

in quilicura there are huge bus graveyards.... or second hand bus dealers however you wnt to look at it........ wouldnt jump at the first you see.... (unless its converted)

It wasn't converted yet, but the price seemed good. But my friend called, and the woman said it was sold already. So I'm going to keep looking. I wonder what it would cost to have one of those buses from Quilicura delivered?

Forget the bus. How about an old aeroplane to live in ? You could even have the white picket fence you've always dreamed of.

That would be a little harder to relocate.

So it's a prefab. I thought about that, and it looked interesting. But the manufactured look isn't the style I'm looking for. I'm thinking about using "natural" building materials like mud and rocks. Or recycle something old, like a bus.

I have been too a pacela close to santiago where they have a old train to live in! very cool!

An old train car would be cool too. Just a little harder to move around. I was looking up stuff last night, and saw a lot of interesting/creative bus and truck conversions.
