.
My dearest President Roosevelt,

Please give us back the little submarine that we lost so very unexpectedly somewhere near your Pearl Harbour.

Your swell pal,

// Shōwa Emperor Hirohito

I guess the "cap in hand" approach is the best that can be done given the circumstances. :lol: Don't keep us in suspense, what happened to the little submarine? :? Inquiring minds want to know! :wink:

I think it was returned in kind. After all, it's the thought that counts.

That sub is nothing. Upon surrunder, the U.S. found that Japan's sub technology was very advanced, and that they were building some state-of-the-art subs to bring biological weapons (recall that biological weapons had already been used in Manchuria two decades earlier) to the U.S. mainland. The U.S. took possession of the subs, studied them, and then sank them in the middle of the Pacific so the Russians would never be able to see them.

So, you mean they never got their midget submarine back? Even after asking so nicely? That would be so very rude.

I worked for a short time in Shizuoka prefecture not far from where some of those special weapons were supposedly developed and tested. I don't think many people in that area now know much about them. And those who might, aren't talking much about it.

Alas, a grim reminder that the U.S. is the only country to have used its nuclear weapons. :cry:

Not so stupid. Ask first, then bomb. They have their chance. Wait and see, bombs will drop if it isn't returned.

Yes, sad but true, but the U.S. soldiers sitting offshore in boats hould have died to spare Japanese lives? I don't think so.

Yup, and in doing so, put a quick end to that war, too.

Actually, every nation that has nuclear weapons "uses" them - even if that use is simply to influence others. Sort of like a shotgun in Chile: the best use is letting the bad guys know you have it.
