DOGS

Postby zerohero on Mon Feb 26, 2007 5:45 pm

Hi there - great site by the way! My girlfriend's father (Chilean national) is part of a small group of volunteers who rescues stray dogs from the streets of Valparaiso - and usually ends up rehousing them in his home (much to his wife's dismay) - the last count was 36!!!

Anyways, he and his colleagues are trying to raise enough money to construct purpose-built kennels outside of town - thus improving both the dogs' lives and the city's streets. The one small snag is that the Government is not interested in funding the project in any way.

I was just wondering if anyone out there knew of alternative ways of raising funds or joining forces with similar projects. Are there any international groups that would look favourably on something like this?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

street dogs

I known there are some international groups that do fund these sorts of animal projects in Latin America. I think controling the street dogs in Chile is a very serious issue.

I love dogs, I love street dogs, I just don't love beeing chased by a pack of street dogs. I have seen a lot of these packs of street dogs get killed because the dogs will circle a car at a stop light, and then the drivers will just gun it through. It is a big problem in Temuco.
