Ah, OK, that is physalis. Not what I call a gooseberry. But I have never tried those so I might investigate.

Yes, I think I have seen those. A bit expensive and I am not really mad about gooseberries anyway. Just curious if they are around.

I looked for rhubarb today in the Jumbo in the Alto Las Condes but the whole store looked like there was a revolution on but no one had told me. The shelves were all decimated. One of the Jumbo people said they didn't know why but yesterday hordes decided to shop and they couldn't get the things replaced on the shelves quickly enough. It was like after the earthquake. I guess people going away for a long weekend were stocking up?

Yes, they do have gooseberries at Jumbo Alto Las Condes, fresh, in a plastic case like the strawberries and blueberries. Bought some last year LOL

I can confirm this too. I saw it there in July and remember thinking...hmm, didn't know they ate much rhubarb here.

It is eaten a lot in the south because of the German influence there. My Swiss friend waits for it anxiously for it to arrive in Santiago every year. She buys masses of it and freezes it for kuchen.
