I found a place in Valpa, it's an entire apartment with what they claim are good views of the ocean and fireworks, and is available just now due to a cancellation. The catch is that we have to stay for 7 nights haha which I guess gives us more time to check out the place but also means the price is quite hefty. On the plus side an apartment gives us a bit more freedom than a room at a B&B or hostel.

We've been quoted 600.000. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being 'sigh new year's eve's rates' and 10 being 'don't ever contact them again', where does this fit in? :P

It has some really nice reviews online, and 'seems' like it's in a decent location although I'll be the first to admit I wouldn't exactly know what is or isn't a decent location.

Here's another you could try. We stayed there earlier this year. It's a bit out of the way, not too close to other hotels, so maybe there is a better chance of them having something.

dw88, why don't you post the location so we can see where it is.

image is smaller than I thought it'd be, but gives an idea.

The hostal victoria also has vacancy from 30dec-2jan for a much cheaper price, but think we kind of the like idea of staying a bit longer and exploring :)
is this a decent location?
