Look, if you are in the country say 8 months, the cop knows that you are either a tourist who is illegal (in the country for more than 3 month) or you have a temp. visa or residencia definitiva, in the first case you are in trouble for staying in the Chile for more than the 3 month on a tourist visa, or in the other case if you are hiding the fact that you actually living in chile you are driving without valid driving licence (as you must have a chilean driving licence while living here, temp. visa or definitiva).
