Don't go bringing your notions of common sense to Chile. They have other ideas.

They also have their own sets of rules about what food can be imported into Chile, so your statements suggesting that anything nonperishable can be imported is solidifying your newbie status.

Just because something is in a tin doesn't mean it is welcome in Chile.

Great shortcut to canned tomato soup...a foil packet of tomato paste, or small can of it....whisk into it two cups of milk, tablespoon of sugar, dash of salt. Thin with a bit of water and whip up some thick grilled cheese sandwiches. The soup is best served with a pat of real butter melting in the center of the bowl.
