Found tofu in La Serena

Postby swdchile » Thu Nov 10, 2011 3:41 pm

I stopped by the Inatura restaurant here in La Serena (the address is in the wiki under La Serena) to inquire about tofu. They do sell it and here's the scoop:

- They sell it on Wednesdays only.
- You must place your order ahead of time, but no later than Monday morning.
- It costs $3500 per 200 grams.
- Their number (cell) is 71400264 and you better know Spanish or have someone that does call for you.

I just placed my order for tofu and indeed they said one must place an order by Monday morning to be able to pick it up by Thursday, 11am, which is opening time for this particular restaurant. They will prepare the tofu Wednesdays to have it ready the following day. They also have veggie empanadas on a daily basis, flavors and ingredients change daily, for 900 pesos. They also mentioned having veggie patties for 700 a piece. I no longer am a veggie-head but my kiddo remains one; so barbecue sauce is in order to grill some of this tofu.

BTW: At a hare krishna center, Lautaro #841, in La Serena, one can find veggie tacos, made with corn tortillas (the tortillas were made the typical Mexican way). Vegan food can be purchased there on a regular basis from M-F 1-3PM.
