Open a multibillion dollar international company. My company finally got established and now I have 2 bank reps calling me practically every day asking if I have my RUT yet. Now it's ridiculous.

You don't need a multibillion dollar company to go down that route.

Even my company had issues opening an account. Once our sacrificial lamb opened his account, the reps practically threw stuff at him. Funny how they barely gave him the time of day 2 weeks ago.

some years ago, our first big multimillion investor account scheduled a meet and greet with all the major players in his account. We are talking 10 million US in start up pocket money for the first year or two, perhaps another 10 to 20 million in the first 5 years (agriculture industry).

some clueless little president of a major (international) regional bank started giving us the expat song and dance, and we said stop the shit. We contacted santiago and explained the situation. they flew two account reps down to sit in the hall while we had our meeting with the client and others, and then come in and answer the questions. Most importantly would 10 million dollars get them a bank account in chile without residency. the answer was: YES.

conclusion, the only reason the banks will not open you an account as a foreigner: a) lack of funds b) lack of funds

the banks can do what ever they want to, just not with you.

the irony is, that has been demonstrated over, and over, and over in our line of biz, we have mega million dollar clients that they want to first see if they can open a simple checking account on a personal level before they send millions of dollars in to a banking bureaucratic black hole. result: I can say I have witnessed 10's of millions of dollars go somewhere else, because the investors have no confidence in the basic banking system. It is not that once in it they are concerned about it being stolen like the states, but that it will simply get the bureaucratic shuffle or be rejected to a point they can not do biz..

Had a client a couple of weeks ago, that owned multiple mining companies in Chile, be rejected for buying a car on a personal level. It is that level of silliness.

if they have millions of dollars to piss in to the wind with half ass IT scam companies, they can guarantee through Banco Estado (or other banks) real accounts for foreigners that want to move their money in to Chile for REAL COMPANIES and REAL RICH PEOPLE.
