Ok, I have been meaning to give an update....

Remember my first apointment a couple of years ago was at a place speciallising in laser eye surgery etc..... they said it was possible to operate, gave me a quote, got it approved with my isarpe, 100% free (i have a really good plan)...........

BUT, this is a big thing to decided, so i went for a second opinion,

I went to http://www.pasteur.cl/cuerpo-medico/1-p ... arias.html
he speaks good english, and is well known in chile.........

he did a number of tests that i have never had done before....just basic tests with lenses, spent a good amount of time and said surgery is not for me.... not yet........ and recommended i go and see a contact lens specialist......

so tomorrow i have an appointment with one of the best lens specialist in chile..... http://www.hkcentrovisual.cl/en (and the first appointment is free ) :)

my recommendation is watch out for companies whos main income is by performing laser eye surgery, they are going to sell you it no matter what.... try to find a independent doctor who doesn't rely on just that for there income.....

I will give an update tomorrow afternoon on my lenses....

Thanks for info Zeronz
I am planning to do LASIK surgery in Clinica Las Condes, but have looked at Los Andes, Pasteur, Alemana and Clinica Santa Maria as well. Difficult to know which one is the best...

The first place i choose via google.... the next ones i choose by recommendations......

i think the doctor is more important than the clinic.... finding one with a good recomendation..... and making sure they are not on reclamos.cl!

As promissed an update on http://www.hkcentrovisual.cl/

i had my appointment today, as per normal they asked for my receta, i had one, i just left it in the car, tried to talk my way out of if, ended up going to get it from the car, gave it to them....

so, they made 2.5 hours of tests on my eyes, very impressive, they have a very very very modern setup, and had every machine there to do the tests, no being sent out to other places to be tested...

after the 2.5 hours of testing and double check by multiple people i have a special contact lense prescription for my eyes....... they have all the equipment to make special lenses there, and they will have my new lenses ready on tuesday morning, the price i have paid is one set fee that will see me end up with the lenses i need, if i have problems with what they prescribed they will change htem for free until its right

English is minimal with the staff, but the boss/owner speaks perfect!, he was very interested in my condition as its kinda rear and he was actually enjoying the work!

paid for the lenses to confirm the order, they gave me a boleta for the isapre, i have a great plan with operations, but not with lenses, so ii will get some money back, but i doubt it will be more than 10 - 15% of the value of the lenses.... now at the price i pay per lens, im not going to get contents insurance for the home, because if i lose one it aint going to be cheap to replace!
