Introducing...

Postby naomimokoena » Wed Oct 26, 2011 6:17 pm

Hey everyone,

I have read through some of your posts and am glad to have found this forum although a little apprehensive since some of the posts seem to be written out of bitterness and therefore getting things off your chest rather than an actual desire to help people... in any case I am sure it will prove an invaluable resource.

So as an introduction, I am Naomi, from the UK and married to a South African. We got married in SA and moved over to the UK 2 months ago... and yes we are already thinking of re-locating to Chile. From reading some of your posts I already can tell that some of you will think we are completely insane!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi for now and will start to ask some questions soon enough... once I pluck up the courage!!

Buenas noches.

My condolences..

1. Welcome to the forum.

2. There is much help to be found here.

3. The SEARCH function is your friend.

(Semi-standard responses for all newcomers, although usually from others).

.
Since it isn't clear from the initial message, the next semi-standard response is also both predictable and reasonable:

Why Chile?
.

BTW, chatter is free. The prevailing rate for real help is USD500 a shot.

Sounds like your hubby is Swazi or Zulu, I speak a smattering of both. There is a good South African (as well as UK) community in Santiago, presuming you are thinking of Santiago...

If you have a reasonably thick skin and try not to get sucked into trolling (I´m looking at you Ryanar! ;) ) you´ll be fine and your questions answered. That´s assuming you don´t have two heads. The general forum consensus is that two heads are not better than one. Although, a few have slipped through the cracks recently.

Welcome :)

haha! $500 hmmm... maybe we can negotiate

Thanks everyone :) I have already tried the 'search' function but it didn't come up with results for something particular I was looking for...

My husband is Basotho and I am very lucky - No condolences necessary :D

Yes we are thinking of Santiago. Nice to know that we will find some comfort in being able to interact with like people over there... but our real aim is to become part of the community.

Why Chile? Basically we want to come there to save you all from eternal damnation!! Kidding aside, my husband is a pastor and we feel called to Chile, and in particular Santiago, to plant a Church and really become a part of the community. Unfortunately with a 'calling' you know it is not going to be plain sailing and we are under no illusions that it is going to be easy first of all to get there and second of all to integrate well into community. In any case we are excited at the prospect of moving over there.

Great to meet you all!

I hope your are both fluent in "chilensis" if you intend to become part of the community ( or it's only for english speakers ?). If you intend to live in Santiago, bring extra "holy water".....you'll need it
Welcome!
Life's definitely good!
