Shipping Rates NZ to Chile

Postby zer0nz » Sun Oct 23, 2011 1:05 pm

Im trying to make my long term plan for chile....

Im looking at the posiblity to import a kitset house from new zealand to chile....

The house im looking at right now with the exhcange rate is $30,000,000 +/- not the biggest house, but good enough for me!

The idea would be buy a parcela within 30 minutes of santiago.....

i know im looking at about 32% in import costs in Chile (aduanas and agents etc), but without making serious inquiries, does anyone know the cost of a 20ft, or 40ft container ex NZ to Chile... just a estimate...... Dad will pack the container in his yard on the other end, so it will be ready to go!

P.s the reason for a kitset house from nz is i know its going to be built to be designed for the conditions similar to Chile, AND, of high quality,, but the main thing is the kit comes with double glazed windows and insulation, its going to have a long term savings in heating costs.....
Plan N....... Back On track

The reason for from NZ is because my father has a yard there where i can purchase and store a container then pack it, ready for shipping

He also has contacts in the industry to get good deals, and large trade discounts on building materials and tools, the actual purchase in NZ will be cheap

Im planning on getting something that requires the less amount of chilean labour and materials to install... i.e the house will sit on piles, that way i dont need chileans to lay concrete, i want my house level :)

the kits are simple any idiot can assemble over a number of weekends.... (probably 6 months of weekends),

the containers would be brought so they can be the storage until the house is finished, and after will make good bodegas...

The only show stopper i feel will be the cost of the shipment.... am i looking 2k per container, 5k per container, or 10k?

Not sure if the kit will fit in a 40ft, or 2 20ft......

also gives me room to bring other quality NZ building materials and tools over, compressors, nail guns etc.....

this would all be harder if i had to organize from another country without contacts there to help me out!
