I'm so glad that I found this forum!
For the past few days, I've been researching the possibility of moving to Chile, and this site has been particularly helpful. Thank you so much, Charles, for providing this forum.

I live in sunny Southern California because I love the mild weather, so I'd like to find a nice little place somewhere in Chile that has a similar climate. Although southern Chile seems gorgeous, I don't think I can bear the cold weather.

So, I'm here to see if I can find more info about areas with a warmer climate. I know that the north area is warm but basically desert, and that doesn't appeal to me at all. So I guess that leaves the Central region, probably north of Santiago.

I look forward to learning more and communicating with others to share information. Who knows, maybe we can even share an "exploratory" trip to Chile.

The central region is good area if you are looking for something like southern CA. Say around Vina del mar is similar to areas around Malibue CA. As you move south, the Chilean climate mirrors almost exactly CA and the western coast of the US and Canada. South of about Puerto Montt is about where OR or Washington would be. That said, I still find northern CA, OR, and WA much colder than southern Chile; however, the rain is about the same.
