Postby Tombi » Mon Sep 12, 2011 1:56 pm

Can´t remember who asked, but Organisk on Luis Pasteur in Vitacura has Soy and Rice milk (organic, of course) and the rice milk comes in original, vanilla and chocolate.

Get a cow there is a new Swiss bred milk cow that is about a 1.2m at the shoulder and produces about 6-8 litres a day. Milk cows for 200 years have been bred to crank out 25-30 lt a day some much more. These guys said wait a family only needs 4-6 litre a day and don’t need a big honking cow, so modern breeding and you have a mini cow, oh they cost about $35000 each. ;)

Organisk also carries yogurt made by Pucara, which is one of the two good non-sugary yogurt brands I have seen. The other brand is sold at La Chakra in Providencia.

I guess that is in dollars. Really expensive for a mini cow. And is that cow available in Chile? I hadn't heard that there were any minis in Chile.

It was the modern breeding that got the cows to be as big as they are today.

Well here is one Holstein that averaged 23 Gallons a day. For you metric folk, that's close to 87 Liters.

Yes, at Pueblito Ingles (on the roundabout near CLinica Alemana) is a gluten free shop and Organisk has quite a few dairy and gluten free products. Jumbo has gluten free biscuits/cookies/bread and so forth, but not a massive selection.
