Restarting the coffee discussion, found Nespresso

Postby Eileen » Sat Sep 10, 2011 2:19 pm

I was too lazy to do an extensive search for the last coffee discussion, so my apologies... it was getting to long to sift through anyways. For those who are coffee addicts and don't mind paying for the addiction, we found a Nespresso store at Mall Alto las Condes. We had given up on using our Nespresso machine, when we found that our shipment would have cost $2000 U.S., and we happy to at least have Starbucks available. The Nespresso prices weren't that outrages, compared to those at William Sonoma or ordered for U.S. shipment. Our only problem now is pacing ourselves until the next trip to Santiago. Living in Concepcion feels like living in the boonies!

Yeez, you think you live in the boonies...Actually, I should not complain because we do have a couple of places in Pangui that make a decent cup of coffee. Not too much other then that though.

I don't miss the stress of living in the U.S., but I do miss access to quality shopping. Thankfully we have opportunities to travel around Chile, otherwise I would feel my quality of living severely compromised in post-earthquake Concepcion. We have found some real gems here though. There's a licensed shop at the corner of Serrano and Victor Lamas that sells oysters for about 50 cents U.S. each. Try doing that in New York! Also, there's a number of small gourmet shops that have sprung up. Just wished that we had imported cheese.

Yes. it seems Falabella, Paris and Ripley sell the Nespresso machines in Santiago. Got fed up looking for coffee and finally bit the bullet. Not a bad cup of coffee, considering it's from Nestle.
