Have you investigated any MS opportunities in Chile? I mean a transfer within your company. If there are none maybe you could get a plan together to convince your seniors of the absolute necessity

of posting you there, along with your family of course. It could take a few months to get that together but if you could pull it off, MS picks up the tab for moving and expenses, viola! You're in country and kept your $ in your pocket.
If you like it in Chile as a long term option, (as you already know, it ain't for everyone, that's for sure) You could contemplate the thought of staying after your assignment was over. Or just use your time there to buy a house, make contacts, etc. and do a bi-continent arrangement. Every year spend some time in the US, spend some time in Chile.
You may have already thought of that. Anyway, my 2p. Suerte.
