Interesting reading
Do you know if there are any special requirements for a hosted website?
Please post a link to your store when you get done....

Sure, ill paste the link when its live,

The only special requirement of Webpay is installing their own KCC "kit", its a number of cgi-scripts that must run on your server, works with Apache or IIS Hosting, of course we are hosting on apache, wouldnt touch iis
first they make you connect to a test system where they will have a 3rd party company audit your site to make sure its not hackable, then they will allow you to go live.

We are hosting our site on one of our virutal servers in our server room in santiago, we have a 20meg fiber so its a nice fast connection for those in chile, we need to host it locally because we are interfacing to other systems to automate the order and shipping processes in real-time,

My all time, hands down, most shockingly insecure site in Chile that would lead to a major breach I have seen was adt.cl (yes, the security alarm company). Their security cert had expired, was self-signed, and the script to enter and pass the information was not even passing through the ssl port. That would be the script also where you change your alarm code online for your house.

I would follow that a close second with the default pin numbers for Santander cards. You know the ones you enter on the key pads at the store, but also use on their web site, to take cash out, and so on. Luckily they do have a bit of a better system for authorizing online transfers, that uses a coordinate card; but, still the amount of information available to anyone looking over your shoulder at the store is disturbing.

A couple of years ago my local bank changed their ATMs to the type where you manually insert the card and pull it out again. The first time I went to use one, there was a guy in a suit stationed beside it. He was helping customers to use the new machine, keying in what looked like the PIN for a couple of old ladies. When my turn came, I then asked him if he was a bank employee, he said he was. Then I asked him to move away from the ATM, and he drifted off towards the customer helpdesk, glowering at me. It turned out he was a bank employee, despite not wearing any type of ID.
I find it odd that Chileans can be so desconfiados in other situations, but were willing to trust an unidentified stranger with their card info, just because he looked respectable.

4 months later our site is still nt live with webpay???

WHY!

Transbank is the largest piece of $%&/( company to deal with,

I told the sales rep the other day that the entire staff of transbank is a bunch of weones and walked out of the office

The sales rep turned up to our office he was to teach the back end administration of transbank CC processsing to our accounts dept....

He had no logins ready, didnt know how to use it, and tried to say MY site didnt work..... he had this idea to make a purchase on website you just click the webpay logo on the first page, he has obviously NEVER made a purchase online in his life....... let alone used a computer.....

Startup Chile... challange for you, Take piñeras money, and make a rival to transbank.... you will be very rich very fast!

Frightening. Is that the only option for processing pesos? That would explain all those Chilean companies that want you to pay by bank transfer (even for a 2 luca spare part).

If a perl script fails on 64-bit it might have been something as silly as broken platform detection? Sounds you're well past that now though.

Hell, Shutdown Chile should be retooled to replace all the broken web sites in Chile. $40,000 bounty for anyone that fixes a company web site, gets it online running, listed in the search engines, and able to accept credit cards. Now there is something to help the economy.

Did you get it to work? Im looking for a local payment gateway, (paypal doesnt do pesos). Do they have an API that can be used or is the perl script the only solution. ? I have contacted them, but the nice people at the call center didnt have any idea as to what they were selling. And sending an email has resulted in nothing...

no, but investigated it, it will be fine,

it wouldnt work for us as we sell weight based products and put aprox and max weight on the website, then change the acutal amount on shipment, webpay allows us to change the amount charged to the card as long as its not more than original value.....

dineromail does not...

How are the rates with Webpay?

Dineromail looks like less hassle but 6.49% for processing credit cards? That's not much of a deal.
