Re: Boutique Tour Company is looking for an employee 2011-20

I used to work for a tour company. Minus a few aspects, I've done this job. I think the key sentence is, "150.000 CLP plus a top-up per performed tour." I'm not sure what a "top-up" is, but I'm presuming that you could work for hours or days to organize tours that might end up canceling. If you're only paid for "performed tour," then you might be working for nothing!

I've been out of tourism for a few years. So I don't know what the going rate for over-the-road tour guides is now. I can tell you that, whatever it is, it's probably not enough. A guide is "on" 24/7 and is expected to be a nurse, "Dear Abby," an historian, an entertaining expert in everything, and an organizer par excellence.

It says that the "target is to accompany a tour at least once a week." Wonder what happens if there aren't any tours that week.....again, ¿no plata?

Maybe what we have here, folks, is a failure to communicate. After all, it also states "out on the field." Since I presume they're not playing football, maybe it loses something in the translation.

This is supposedly a company founded by expats. They really need to clarify or face the deadly wrath of fellow expat scrutiny.

dont knock the machine nescafe, i have developed this nasty habbit of buying it on my way to work each morning!

I have started class near Metro Salvador 3 mornings a week. The only places that sell coffee nearby serve those Nescafé lattes, mochas, etc. I am getting into the same habit since I need some caffeine.

Back to the topic. That is insanely low for the responsibilities. I am sure that when it was first published it said until 17:00 hours, but now it says 14:00. Did anyone else notice that? However, if you are guiding a tour, it is doubtful you will finish at 2 pm.
