Gold dredge for sale

Postby go play outside » Wed Jun 29, 2011 6:38 pm

A friend of mine is selling his gold dredge he brought over from NZ.
It's a keene big river dredge, 8 inch, triple sluice. If that means anything to you, you might want to look at the pics. It's 5.9 million negotiable. PM me for photos. Cheers!

Post photos. My curiosity is killing me. Besides someone might buy it, regardless if they know what to do with it.

Just googled it. Very cool.

I know some good rivers, where supposedly there is some high gold content (know people that found Gold in and around them).

Damn good fun, but not so friendly to those downstream in the river you might be working in!

My friend managed to import it from NZ intact in 1 container - anyone who has experienced the aduanas will know what a mission that represents. Then he had an ornery old goldminer from NZ over to show him the ropes, and everyone was very excited, and then my friend had to leave the country for other reasons and it's now waiting for a new home. There is lots of talk of rivers with viable amounts of gold left; not my thing but.

I can't guarantee ROI ...

There was a lot of gold mining and even some dredging down here in southern Patagonia and in Tierra del Fuego. Here is one of the old (circa 1900) dredges in Tierra del Fuego. This one is now a national monument but ironically it was involved in a bit of a scam in its day.

Free download of the 1895 book "THE GOLD DIGGINGS OF CAPE HORN" A study of life in Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia, by John R. Spears. Spears was not telling the truth either but the books is an interesting account of the "fiebre de oro" at that time down here.

And yes I know the places in this part of Patagonia where that later model NZ dredge would probably pay for itself.

So let me get this straight, there is accessible gold in the Patagonia, and there aren't hordes of people down there mining it? Am I missing something?

"accessible" is the issue.

Areas around Futa have gold, but let me put that in perspective. Last week, what should have been a 1-2 hour operation to get a piece of paper signed, with a private plane to get us in and out, took TWO days, and about 6 hours of bouncing around on dirt roads looking for a landing strip. The only pavement we seen, was the road that was converted in to an air strip outside Chaiten (with car traffic stopping for the plane to take off and land). That is why I knew the Gold mine down there was a stock scam, but there is Gold in those hills (technically all the mineral rights are owned).

Futa has the best airstrip I have seen in southern Chile, I was told it is east of town and so well built so things could be flown down and smuggled into Argentine. There really is no reason for it being there. It’s 850m and paved, but alas no fuel available.
