Rune, I did not get back to you because I am simply busy.

I do not allow users to change user names as standard policy, because it makes it harder to track bad users.
That is besides wasting my time with a constant request to change names from every user on the forum.

Also, rune, I tolerate you filling my forum with crap postings about nothing, because they are mildly amusing, but you are pushing your luck (and the alter egos and / or other forum sprites).

Now, a chat room was requested several years ago. We tried it. It provided no real benefit to the forum. It did slow down page loads, and even attracted a few spammers. There will be no chat room associated with allchile.net at this time. It distracts from the main purpose of this forum which to gther information on chile, in a way that future users may learn from it. Transient, random postings, and conversations, in a chat room do not really help. The chat room also dramatically increased my work load to keep an eye on it.

I will also not allow for any free chat rooms to be associated with our name, as they have a history on the net as a source for all kinds of very bad things. Most immediate concern would scams targeting members that are both vulnerable because they are new to chile and / or new to the internet.

There are a million chat channels out on the web, if members want use them, not really my biz and not really the biz of this forum.
