Doble nacionalidad

Postby SeNor Gringo » Thu Jun 09, 2011 10:54 pm

Here's a question to which I haven't been able to find the answer yet (even by calling the Chilean consulate here in the US):

My wife is current a Chilean citizen, but next week is her US Citizenship ceremony. Does she cease to be a Chilean citizen after this, or does she retain "double nacionalidad?"

Pretty sure she will hold a citizenship in both countries. Residence might be different factor. (For the record, I speak with no legal knowledge or authority) but my wife holds a duel citizenship with Canada & Chile. I don't think the US would be much different.

No she won't, even if the US government required her to renounce her Chilean citizenship, I doubt Chile would recognize her renouncement.
