A little follow-on regarding CL "ceding" the MI-17 helicopter order to PE. It just stinks of falsity and political perfume.

CL is apparently the only major nation in the region that has not added substantial Russian armament in recent years, despite Bachelet's efforts to do so when she was defence ministress and later presidenta.

News item 2010

Unsurprising news story -- election results in Perú produced the largest-ever crash in the PE stock market. We should see other negatives -- capital flight, perhaps.

When Brazilian companies like Vale started up buying companies like Inco here in Canada (2nd largest mining company) people here started to take notice. I think in many respects the coming decades will belong to the Chinas, Indias and Brazils of the world..... They are going to be investing 10 billion here in Canada.... Peru has a lot of what they want.
