An Ed degree and a MA, she should easily get a job teaching English. The MA in Women’s Studies is still an MA.

I do not know what the requirements are for teaching at a school like Grange or Nido de Aguilas but I would think native speaker and an education degree would put her ahead of many candidates. I would hate to see her teaching at an instituto for crap pay that anybody with grade 12 and tesl certificate can get. Not denigrating that by the way. Just that with an education degree I would try and look at places that pay more. Just lie and say you are committing to longer stay.

I do see they want three years experience and there are no vacancies at this time but I would still apply even for substitute teaching. Their year ends in June I believe....

A lot will depend on what her visa situation is..... Is she accompanying you and only you have a work visa?

The contracts for a school would be 1 year, not 6 months and they hire 1-2 years in advance. The Grange pays very well.

A job at either of those schools is worth extending your stay for.....

And from the 1/6th of her face that I can see, she will pass the required photo added to resume test. :)

O would think US trained teachers would be favoured based on makeup of board and such at Nido.

Good luck! :)

I know Santiago college prefers bilingual teachers but I would apply there as well.

She only needs that if she's going to dance on TV and try to lip-sync without knowing the words before the talk show starts.

I didn't even notice that she had an undergrad degree in Education. In that case she should definitely try for one of the 'International' schools. As for the part in bold, I would think that it would put her pretty much in line with other candidates? Or else I should consider applying for a position since I have a Master's degree (not in Education) from the U.S. and I guess that would put me in the middle of the pack? lol

Yeah you are right. It would put her in line with other candidates as to apply you need a B. Ed degree and presumably all applicants would have same.
