As we all know, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the French leader of the International Monetary Fund has been officially charged with sex assault. The charges filed against him in a New York City court include: two counts of criminal sexual act in the first degree; one count of attempted rape; and one count each of sexual abuse in the first degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, sexual abuse in the third degree and forcible touching.
Is it possible to say that the American system is more egalitarian than let's say, the Chilean system?
If this man would've been at the Ritz–Carlton, or The San Cristobal tower in Santiago, and if he would've "jumped" on the chambermaid for sexual gains. Do you think the case would escalated to the point that the leader of IMF would ended up in La Penitenciaria de Santiago? Could you picture such a powerful man, like Mr. Strauss-Kahn, who has the financial fate of many countries in world on the palm of his hand, ending up in a Chilean jail without bail? Do you see that happening in Chile?
