Need work. Can anyone help?

Postby El Chupacabra » Mon May 16, 2011 2:08 pm

Hi everyone, I'm currently looking for work in Chile and figured in wouldn't hurt to post on the forum and see if anything can materialize out of it. Up to date my job search has been unsuccessful. I'm a native English professional (Canadian) with a degree in Marketing & Management. I have over 9 years as a sales and marketing manager in Canada and am now looking for anything that pays decent (by Chilean standards) in any related field.

I'm not picky and am always up for new challenges. If you happen to know anyone or maybe a company you work for who is looking for a native English speaker with a business background then I ask that you please keep me in mind or maybe send me a PM with a contact name or some details on where I can apply.

I am legal to work in Chile. My Spanish is intermediate at the moment although it does improve everyday. I am currently located in the Santiago/V Region but am able to relocate to any part of the country if necessary.

Please post or PM me if you require any additional info. Thanks for reading.

Just gotta say this: What can you do that a local Chilean can't do? What makes you a better hire than a Chilean? What real, not perceived, value can you bring to a company in Chile?

you will learn that is a waste of time....

there are some professions in chile you can get special attention as a gringo, and there are some that are not, marketing unfortunately is not one of them....

for the chilean company to go through the headache of hiring you, you must bring something super special to the table, that could be an example of a project you worked on back home that was very successful, and not just marketing for you local ma and pa computer store, im talking about large scale large brand marketing, if you dont bring that you dont bring anything,

your other way in is by networking, you can send a 100 cvs via the post and get no where,

or you can go to every single expat event you can find, and start selling your self, start mixing with the right people expats or chileans, its going to be who you know, not what you know....

Now if you were a experianced engineer for mining, you would have a job by the end of the week :)
Plan N....... Back On track
