Since you were not aware of some of the other information sources available to Chileans, apart from those controlled by the tyrannical fist of press censure in the country, I've found a few online alternatives to assist in gaining a broader perspective on the news surrounding events in Chile.
Here is the old mainstream standby, Anarcho Punk News. http://anarcopunknoticias.blogspot.com/ ... -bbva.html They are very proud of their neo-Luddite campaigns and should serve as a model to all forward-thinking youth within the nation as well as addressing the adolescent fancies and proclivities of nonresident observers.
"Chaos on the Net" (kaos en la red) Another fine news reporting agency, with a special section on conflict in Chile. http://www.kaosenlared.net/chile
And then there is the old standby of objective reporting, and it matters not that these fellows seem to be periodically indicted as eco-terrorists: the Greenpeace legions. Their intent seems to be a halt to nearly all viable industrial, mining, energy, agricultural, and fishing activities in Chile, but that would leave the world-famous Chilean sand-candle and organically grown incense exports to keep the nation afloat. http://www.greenpeace.org/chile/es/

Meanwhile, the mob violence in Santiago and other cities continues.
