The verizon Galaxy Tab uses 800/1900 CDMA, it will also not work in chile......

the generic version uses quad band umts, this will work every where but verizon :)

swdchile

My advise for your,

Buy a cheap phone when you get here with entel/movistar or claro, choose your poison.....

Buy a verizon tablet, and just use wifi when you get here.....

Forget the consolidation idea while in chile....

Don't you just need ONE of those bands for it to work? I understand from the infallible Wikipedia that Chile uses 850/1900. Nice how they make these standards so straightforward for customers...

Unless it's this one, with a reflective screen...

(Just a couple of random links). Currently this start-up is still getting of the ground with pre-orders though.

1900 CDMA vs 1900 UMTS same bands different technology! Would be like a chinese person talking to a korean in the same room!, in their own languages!, wouldnt work!

CDMA = 32 countries world wide, its only still around because verizon has 93 millon customers!

UMTS = 200 +

and just to make it more confusing, UMTS = CMDA-W, but im not going to say that again

Ah, thanks. Fortunately I think the one I was looking at is UMTS (it is described as "3G HSPA", which may not mean much, but wikipedia redirects the frequency band links to their UTMS article).
