Okay I will try again this time with the link posted in someone else's post...A simple question....
What if you don't know the RUT number of a company doing business in Chile, is there a database that you can search by company name to find out their RUT# number to post in this link?

We are a UK registered company looking to complete a deal with a Chilean company. Obviously part of this process is the 'due diligence' and where I've become stuck

How can I check who the registered company is to a RUT number provided or visa versa, just to make sure it's all how it should be
Many thanks in advance.
Among other mechanisms, the Chilean tax authority (Servicio de Impuestos Internos) allows you to research the status of a RUT holder's "taxation situation" (situación tributaria) if you know the RUT. That is, the SII makes publicly available what it thinks it knows. This site can also tell you the areas of economic activity which the company has self-declared to the national tax authority.

There are others with far greater experience in this area and with much more comprehensive knowledge in such matters of research. The only reason I know of this means of checking RUT status is to check my own.
A RUT can also link you to a ROL to identify potential real estate holdings. However...when using the SII databases for checking status of real estate it is important to recognise that the tax authority does not claim to represent actual current property owership status, i.e., such SII representations are often faulty wherein ownership is involved. In the case of my own properties it is often wrong. For present ownership of real estate you would need to contact the corresponding Conservador de Bienes Raices.
Admin will yell at me I if am wrong.
