Ok, I'll look for this information now. All I have is the info posted to these forums.

Yeah, she will be. I also have the letters she sent me in the original envelope which shows they are from Chile.

Just for the record, I found a good access page for the timatic database. Is it ok to post the URL?

You all are missing the point.

1 ---- It has long been established that the Chilean authorities won't ask or care not to mention this is backed up by an official exemption in the rules.
2 --- The problems people speak of having are with the AIRLINE when purchasing or at CHECK-IN.
3 --- As experienced others have pointed out, all you need to do is direct an ignorant airline employee to look it up in Timatic. As previously described, Timatic is the database the entire travel industry uses to check entry and other requirements before they allow a traveler to board.

Yeah, I pretty much gathered that. I just wanted to make sure I had all my bases covered. This is why I have the letters so I can show them that i'm not going to Chile as a mere tourist, but rather to stay and therefore a return ticket is useless in my situation (which isn't addressed in the timatic documenation)

Be careful with that thought, you are entering Chile as a tourist, then apply for temporary resident’s visa, don’t tell them that you plan to stay at the border and show them a letter stating that, they may send you home to get your resident visa as you are not a tourist. ENTER as a tourist you don’t need a letter, if the letter says the wrong thing like you are a fiancé, you may be in a pickle.

Sr. Diver is correct. You will not be showing anyone your paperwork or saying anything contrary to the purpose of your visit being "touristic". You are entering as a tourist for touristic purposes for an indeterminate period of time letting your whims and the winds blow you where they may.

As in most situations with corporate and government officialdom, the less you say, the better off it is for everyone concerned.

Better known as the K-I-S-S principle.

Thank you. I had considered this. I will be saying as little as possible.
