Broken Engagement

Postby enjambedline » Thu Mar 17, 2011 4:43 pm

I am an American citizen and was recently engaged to a Chilean. I split up with him and he has no money.
We lived together for a while but nothing is in both our names. Everything has always been in my name.
Can he try to sue me in order to get money, since I kicked him out of our shared apt? (everything is in my name)

Thanks

Highly doubt it. How long were you together?

Marriage is everything in Chile.

Perhaps if he is willing to spend a bunch of time and money, and has a bunch of documented proof that he paid for particular things. It would be an expensive long-shot.

As with anything, is there anything worth going after? I mean for example is there some super mansion or Porsche that might make it worth fighting over in terms of costs (of course people can just be vindicative too, and then all bets are off)?

I am in another part of Chile at this point, though not very far away. I appreciate your advice.
