Tin Foil hat time

Postby admin » Thu Feb 17, 2011 2:41 pm

Solar flairs in route today and tomorrow.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12493980

I had a phone call from the States break up on me this morning briefly in more of an EM interference pattern than a bad connection way. Not sure it was related, because the poor call was routed U.S. land line number over VOIP to office line in Chile then forwarded to my cell phone. The possibilities for sources of interference are endless on that connection. Rather amazing it works at all.

The HAMs seem to have heard it

Honestly I am more concerned about one solar flair ending the modern world, than just about any other stupidity man might dream-up. At least they are more common than the asteroid hysteria Hollywood loves so much.

Then also, if the world's electric grid goes down it will make watching the Southern / Northern Lights way better.

Seems this might be the one time when a tin foil hat really is not that crazy:

Clearly time for a tin foil hat, you're talking to yourself.

How often can you see aurora australis from where you live? Or is it too far north?

A writer of bawdy English doggerel? Well, I suppose it was 400 years ago. But he wrote so much, some of it must be true :D .

It that an Andean cat in the avatar? As in the gato andino with its finger ^h^h^h^h^h^h pawprints all over everything in the forum? :?: Hey Rune, the sum total of all your incarnations is less offensive than some people in the forum, so come out of hiding for heavens' sake

Rune,

Dude sorry to see you terminate posting. This forum continues to dwindle in the characters that made it what it is today.

Regarding tinfoil stuff, none can match or come close to a now just lurking moderator and you in that area :alien: .

Cheers,

RCX ( yawning more by the day; just the facts, even if not factual sir or ma'am )

You'll need that tin-foil to help build a Faraday cage to keep your electronics in so they don't get fried by a big solar flare. Or maybe the Russians getting fed up with the USA's global shenanigans and doing the honor's with an EMF pulse over Kansas CIty. Due to atmospheric effects it might be enough to take out electronics as far south as Chile. I dunno but it can't help. Either way, if it happens it's pretty much welcome to the 1880's. No TV, No Radio, No electric lights, No texting, etc. etc. etc. Where I live people get freaked out when the roads get a bit icey. People generally are so spoiled I can't imagine the Mad Max world I'd wake up to if the big EMF pulse actually happened.
