Good vet in Santiago?

Postby hadley » Sun Feb 06, 2011 11:21 am

Hi everyone!
We have 2 kittens (3 months old) and we're looking for a good vet in Santiago. We took them to a clinic but the vet barely even examined them, which was weird considering we told him they had had fleas and he didn't check to see if they still did (we used a Frontline spray)! One of our kittens has feline herpes (from her mother) and the vitamins he gave us haven't been clearing up her symptoms. We need to get some antiviral eyedrops and some antibiotics for her so her outbreak clears up. :( They need their vaccinations and to be neutered in several months. Also I saw a holistic vet while in a taxi in Santiago...has anyone seen this vet and is s/he good?

Thanks a lot!!!!!!! :) :)

We use Soledad Oyanedel at Animal World in Vitacura - 242 2906

She is very thorough, sometimes do house visits and is lovely to deal with (she doesn't speak English).

We are very happy with this vet http://www.vetlascondes.cl/ The clinic is in Vitacura and the vet and his sister both speak very good English. It's clean and the attention for the animals is great. Other clicinas we have tried were dirty and they didn't have the normal medical instruments for a proper examination. It could be so that your animal comes home worse then before like our cat did. A few days after he was examinated (the place was very dirty) he had a blatterinfection and we had to consult another clinic to get him well again.

Our vet is Nelson Navarro and I can highly recommend him. He does house visits. His cell phone is 9-843-8227. He only speaks Spanish, not sure if that is a problem.

Another clinic I can recommend is Clínica Isotta & Marinovic in Providencia. Their number is 209-1582. We board one of our dogs there and use them if our normal vet is out of town. I recently took my cat there and Dr. Marinovic was very thorough. She had been quite sick, but quickly started to show improvement. They are also very honest with the billing there. We took her there the day before we were going out of town. They said once she got better they would move her over to the hotel. In the end they only charged us one day of hospitalization, the rest they charged as hotel, which was a lot less expensive. I am sure some clinics, knowing we were away might have tried to charge more days as hospitalization. Also, they decided some blood work I had approved was not necessary after all. I am sure some places would have done it so they could charge us.
