I have been looking for the past month or so online and on foot for a depto/casa to rent in Viña del Mar or Valpo and so far have not had any luck... A week ago with pen in hand I was ready to sign the papers on a 2 bedroom place, when the administrator changed her mind about renting to me and my wife after we asked to see the previous month´s water bill (to make sure it had been paid up and no debts would be passed on to us)(Bravo Properties). If anyone has any connection, knowns a guy who knows a guy who... or any other type of advice I would appreciate it very much.

Don't know a guy, but a couple of weeks ago when we talked to our waiter in Valpo who rented in the neighborhood (Cerro Concepcion) he said there were places...they aren't that expensive...his place is falling down (they all are, right?)...and just ask around, he said.

I've seen for rent signs in the neighborhood when just walking around.

I suppose you have made the rounds to all the real estate offices in Valpo and Vina? Since there is no multiple listing service here you have to check with each one...

I assume you've looked at the properties classified ads on Sundays in the http://www.mercuriovalpo.cl/clasificados/stat/general/index.html; that's the day when the majority of people put in ads.
I've gone through Axtell before.. eh. They're like any other real estate agency, taking a big chunk of rent for their "help" but they did represent some decent properties.

thanks for your replies. we have moved into a 3br house close to the centro and the beach for 200.000 monthly. a good deal. i advise anyone who is looking for housing or going to be looking for housing to expect to have wait at least a month or possibly much more before being able to find the right place. its not easy. I will recommend portalinmobiliario.com though, that's how we found this place.
