move to chile

Postby larry heideman » Sun Nov 28, 2010 5:12 pm

My wife and I will be retiring and moving to Chile in a couple of years (from the US). We hope to live rural; somewhere between Santiago and Vina. I'm sure as the time gets closer, we will have a lot of questions like moving furniture and our dog.

g~j are confident you will do a lot of SEARCH(ing) first...
Before you formulate any/all said questions.
Be aware - countless others have already asked the same questions.
All are archived in prominent (albeit long-winded, tangential, contentious, opinionated) threads!

I wonder if you have considered another places besides Santiago and Viña. From La Serena to Concepcion you have lots of places where to live in rural areas. Depending on your priorities, I bet you could find the ideal place searching a bit.

My wife is from Chile. Her family is in Santiago. We compromised on trying a rural address as long as it is within an hour or two of Santiago.

We have a question about our move to chile next year. We plan to live half time in chile and half time in the US. What are our health insurance options while in chile?
