I have always described the editorial policy of this forum as being like a wild rose bush. We prune it a little bit, but we don't want to over prune.

Consign. I couldn't agree more. I can see your love for the country in that comment. And thanks! (rest of the crowd: listen to the admin  )

Are you talking about the same Rune who brought nothing but stupidity and silliness here? He was really pushing the envelope of being funny. Pushing it to such a degree, that it was reported by certain forum old-timer to the forum administration. No, we don't need no f*cking Rune here!..

I am well aware of the history of Rune. But he also, in those rare moments of sanity, provided some decent posts.

I guess Rune is being replaced by others who are bringing silliness and stupidity here. :(

May you always prosper.

This post is our official request to admin to perform "global delete" on the server, that would wipe clean the allchile forum from the offenders, mentioned in the "LOVE" topic, all their stupid and silly posts including, Rune including.

Peace be upon you.

regioncentralX wrote:WTF? I thought this was a forum to give potential expats and new expats the real deal on Chile. Since when did this become a tourism site "selling" Chile? Is that the new position of the owner of this forum? Maybe you should propagandize on Frommers, VirtualTourist, TripAdvisor, LonelyPlanet, etc. instead.

the purpose of a promotional video is to sell a product. this time the product is a Country, and thats whatis being sold in the video. I dont think he was trying to say what this forum is/was/ought to be/ used for . . . nor what the site is supposed to sell . . .

Also, I am pretty sure that this video is by Silvio Caiozzi, the same chilean director who did "Cachimba", a fine movie indeed. I would post a link to the trailer but . . . that isnt allowed You can look it up on youtube

Are we voting? I have no objection to hearing about all the tourist sites and fun places to see. Sometimes, tourist sites are tourist sites specifically because they are worth seeing and I want to know where they are so I can see them.

I would not go to a country, settle down , and never go more than 3 miles from home. I would hope to see the entire country. It's helpful to hear recommendations of places to see, how to get there, where to eat, what to avoid.

Just a suggestion: if a poster offends you, it's OK to scroll past their posts and avoid getting your ulcers stirred up.

I love opening the All Chile and finding gorgeous photos of Patagonia, thank you Patagoniax. I also like seeing photos of the food, which give me hope that I can actually find something to eat. There are other countries in the world where the food looks scary, and I am doubtful about traveling there. I mean, I will try new foods, but monkey brains, sheep eyeballs, and dog meat are off the list.

Chile is a beautiful country. There is a lot to like about it. While I want to hear the reality, the bad things do not negate the good things, so I would like to hear both.

You can beat on that. Yes, the idea was to put a video that represented the pretty side of Chile. For the sad side, every country has one, isn't?

ARE YOU PEOPLE KIDDING ME!!!!

You are all bent out of shape over a Lan Airlines commercial?

I honestly did not watch the entire video the first time because my sound was not working on my computer.

What the hell was wrong with that video, other than it was obvious advertising (all the different shots of the Lan jet might clue you in)?
