I see that the new edition of the dictionary of the Real Academia Española (DRAE, as the translators call it) has made some changes that foreros may wish to be aware of, though these changes to the language may take some time to come into common parlance in Chile. Say, ten years or so. But we can't always get away with writing in chilensis.


The letter B, formerly commonly called "b grande" and other things -- is now supposed to be called "be."

The letter V, formerly commonly called "v chica" and other things --- is now supposed to be called.... uve.

What we all use to call "Y griega" is now..... "ye."

And the troublesome letter W is now not a double u but a double v..... "doble uve."
