At those times, at Jumbo and other places you could buy some Halloween articles, but it wasn't a massive party. When I returned in 1991, the festivity had spread throughout Santiago, and I bet through the whole country. This import happened about the same time Easter Bunny arrived.

Thanks for answering my question; I was also wondering the same about the Easter bunny. :? I just wish they would copy good customer service and working habits from the northen country ( I have a major beef about it) but that's another thread  and to that I'll say......
TRICK OR TREAT TO YOU ALL!!

Goodbye cruel world,
I'm leaving you today.
Goodbye,
Goodbye,
Goodbye.

Goodbye, all you people,
There's nothing you can say
To make me change my mind.
Goodbye.

why have you been skating on thin ice t~n + a~x...?
If you should go skating
On the thin ice of modern life
Draggin' behind you the silent reproach
Of a million tear-stained eyes
Don't be surprised when a crack in the ice
Appears under your feet
You slip out of your depth and out of your mind
With your fear flowing out behind you
As you claw the thin ice

we are trying to reach you t~n + a~x...
please hang on...!
Ooh, you cannot reach me now
Ooh, no matter how you try
Goodbye, cruel world, it's over
Walk on by

but we cannot walk on by...
it makes g~j wonder, yes we all wonder...?
Did you ever wonder
Why (you) had to run for shelter
When the promise of a brave new world
Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky

but please our dear t~n + a~x...!
please, you can stay...!
please don't leave...!
Stay and help me to end the day.
And of you don't mind,
We'll break a bottle of wine.
Stick around and maybe we'll put one down,
Because I wanna find what lies behind those eyes.
Midnight blue burning gold.
A yellow moon is growing cold.
I rise, looking through my morning eyes,
Surprised to find you by my side.
Rack my brain to try to remember your name
To find the words to tell you goodbye.
Morning dues.
Newborn day.
Midnight blue turn to gray.
Midnight blue burning gold.
A yellow moon is growing cold.

suerte...

now g~j are quite intrigued by this "conspiracy"...
between the cabal of our 3 dear amigos...
aka terra nullius - araucaniax - yamantako
btw - a Cabal... (aka the BOO! Cabal?)
an association between (allchileans) to further their own ends, usually by intrigue?
perhaps there's more to this intriguing matter - than merely BOO!
however, we can also see that for their individual~collective minds...
their intent has been made quite clear - their minds cannot be changed!
thus, we will only leave you with some words by timothy leary...
"You're only as young as the last time you changed your mind."
please be well and happy
and may you all be ever young

Halloween is a distinctly American celebration, evolved from an Irish pagan holiday (which they apparently have forgotten by now). It is bizarre to me that it got around the world. I was astounded that Canadians adopted it. Indicative of the love-hate relationship the north 40 has with the evil empire to the south.

Speaking of which, we are having spontaneous Halloween parties in the local pubs here in Baku this weekend. Apparently driven by a need to attract more expats to particular watering holes.

May Martha Stewart be with you all.
