money exchange at airport...rates, max amounts

Postby mike » Fri Oct 01, 2010 11:05 pm

Due to new banking requirements from the Canadian gov't, all plastic $ cards must carry a chip by the end of 2010. My local credit union is issuing new cards around when I leave in early nov.. Most of my expenses will be in the 1st week to month. If i take CAD$ 5-8,000 cash, will I be able to change it at airport? Will rates be comparable to ATM withdraw (my bank charges $3/withdraw at daily rate).

When using your card at an ATM, doesn't your CDN bank charge a 2 or more percent foreign currency conversion fee?

The forum has a thread discussing ATMs and cambios here topic3759.html
