Are UK 3 year degrees accepted?

Postby katyc67 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 5:30 am

Hi,

I'm in the process of applying for an MA at the Universidad de Chile and one of the requirements is a 4 year bachelor's degree. In the UK, the majority of bachelor's degrees are only 3 years. Does anyone know if this would be accepted? Has anyone had any experience with this or can offer any advice?

Thank you!!

So I have not to much of an idea on this, but my girlfriend is Chilean and studied at the Universidad de Chile so this response is from both of us!

Bit of background first of all, most batchelor degrees are 4 years or more hence the requirement being in place. There is academic agreements between some countries that means that a degree held in one country is recognized as being valid in another, whether this is the case for the UK and Chile we are unsure so best to check. If there is no direct agreement between them, then you may be asked to not only show the certificate, but also a list (preferably on the certificate or confirmation directly from the university itself) of the subjects that you have studied and passed during your degree.

Couple of questions so we can try to and give you more information, which faculty are you planning on applying to? Which university in the UK are you getting/do you have your degree from? Do you speak Spanish fluently?
