How long is your holiday?

Overdue bills in chile mean nothing (except the internet and phone, these will be cut off on the day of over due, but with a quick trip and payment to the company they are back in in hours),

Servipeg will not accpet payments for overdue accounts, nor pre payment, tried before, pain in butt but you just go to the actual companies office and pay there, there is some little fee of like a extra 1%, but we just put this down to a conveniance fee, if you read around i think you will find some threads where people save up the power/water for 3 months then pay, saves a trip to servipeg every month!

My advice, juts pay whats outstanding, and worry about the rest when you return,

We are heading home for a holiday shortly and will be gone most of the month. HUsbands bank account is in the process of being set up  and all of the bills that come to our house (utilities/internet etc) are in the owners name, so we can't use the handy feature where you press the magic button and the bills are paid from your account automatically. Normally I just pop down to Servipag and join the queue but of course that won't be possible this month.

Is it possible (i.e. has anyone ever done it themselves) to go to Servipag and take an old bill for the utility/service and just pay the next months bill?

oh and yess, you can use the fancy feature when its in the owners names... will you can at BCI, you just follow the wizard to add the account and use the owners rut/account number....

Thanks for that, handy to know. Do you know if you can pay ahead of time without an older bill at the Servipag?

if you have any form of bank account (that allows online access) at the moment, get your old bills and register with servipag.com then you will get an email when each bill is ready to be paid, and again when it is due, and you can pay online through your bank via servipag. I have never paid a bill in person in Chile, always online or over the phone if necessary.

I pay all my utility accounts, cable tv and Internet automatically from my bank account. I only write cheques for the condominium fees and to buy wine.

Sorry Z, missed this post entirely

We are away for 3 weeks, Husband is only away for 2 weeks, but is too busy to wait in line at Servipag when he returns. When we come back I will have my mother with me and don't particularly want to stand in line waiting to pay my overdue bills at various service providers offices if it can be avoided, hence hoping to pay it beforehand. Hmmm will have to think some more about how to get around this.

Fingers crossed HSBC get their $*^# sorted and the account is opened and functioning properly in the next couple of weeks...

does your husband have a junior in his office, (that he trusts), or someone in the office to trust?
If i want our bills paid, i give the administrator X amount of $$$, and the junior then makes his way around all the places to pay them, and brings me the change.... (until i got internet banking)

No junior as yet (new company here). I would be happy to leave cash with some people I know, but it's the getting the bills to them to pay that is the issue. May work for internet banking though, will broach it with them. Thanks for your help :D

So eBills are pretty common throughout all the banks or just a few? I have not gone personally to pay a bill in more than 10 years.
