These are just old pictures, that were taken back in 2008 (around Sep -- Dec). But thanks to some mysterious chance to use the Internet as Rune pleases (maybe some good luck, or certain Higher Forces?), I am now posting them.

Further, believe it or not -- not all rivers in this world have water. This is especially so in some deserts.. however, in the Elqui Valley area quite a few rivers are but dry riverbeds, actually. All year.

Now let me quote the Wikipedia a little bit:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wadi wrote:Wadi (Arabic: وادي‎ wādī; also: Vadi) is the Arabic term traditionally referring to a valley. In some cases, it may refer to a dry riverbed that contains water only during times of heavy rain or simply an intermittent stream.

Thus, Vicuña town is circled (on this google map), and some of the interesting dry riverbeds, where you can walk, are shown in red. Sometimes, you can walk for hours along such wadi, and see some interesting places.

Speaking of one rather long and wonderful wadi (to the north of Vicuña), a short walk along it leads you to the noisy and smelly official waste disposal site.. And you know -- believe it or not -- there is a small camp just next to it, and people live there permanently, and are quite happy with the location (or so it may seem to certain strangers).

I sense a certain longing for the Elqui in your photos and musings. I thought it had disappointed you. Please enjoy your drinking.

The following story is recorded on the Internet, with respect to "Cabañas El Albaricoque" in Cochiquaz { http://www.elalbaricoque.cl/e_home.html }. You believe it or not:

Miracle in Cochiguaz

Monday, February 20th 2006

by: Francisco and Cecilia Fernandez, Cochiquaz, Chile

Source: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... en&ct=clnk

We have had a lot of work to do in the cabins, physical and psychological work. It is difficult to work with people who are too much asleep, more than we are. But it has always helped us to speak the truth. I (Cecilia) think that the Master left us here to work on our egos and pride, besides living a rather strong example for others and also to give testimony to the fires. One night Francisco woke up around three o'clock in the morning and saw four burning pyramids in the room which we occupy in the Albericoque house. It is the same room where Shree Vasant appeared with fires. This time there were only the pyramids with fire; there was no one with the pyramids. A few days passed and because we were in the midst of what is called "the Bolivian or Altiplano winter" in the mountain range, there was a little rain during a few hours, but very little. There was lightning and there were thunderstorms. That day Francisco did one hour of Om Tryambakam Homa in the morning and one woman doctor who is staying there started some meditations of Green Tara, which she had stopped doing for a few days, but that day she, as well as Francisco, received guidance to do something special. That was February 15th. Around 2:40 P.M., the gardener was running all over the place, warning the people from Cabins 1 and 2, the biggest ones, and the ones which are adjacent to the vineyards of the west side of Albaricoque, to vacate the cabins immediately because an avalanche is coming from the Knakana Mountain, which is in front of Albaricoque from the north side. We saw an immense river of mud rapidly coming down towards us and the cabins from the brook which has the shape of a triangle. The people started to go up the road and get farther away from that river of mud. With Francisco, we did the opposite. We got closer to the avalanche, while people were desperately yelling at us to get away from there. Francisco started to chant some mantras, while with our hands we were trying to do some mudras, and also saying, "Back, back! In the Name of Shree Vasant, this is going to be saved! Om Shree! Om Shree! Om Shree!" like this, one after the other. Meanwhile, on the other side where the mud should have filled the parking lot first and the big cabins, a wall of mud three meters high rose up towards us without advancing, not even to reach a car which had remained in the parking lot because it had not been possible to get it out. The back of the car was touching the bamboo-like fence which was leaning towards the east and was full of mud on top of it. The car, however, had not received one single stain of mud. In conclusion, the avalanche literally turned and because a wall was formed on the side where we were reciting the mantras, the river of water and mud passed by the side of the fence of the cabins without touching even a hair of the place. The people who were there could not believe it and they took many photos that they said they will send to us. The television people came the next day. We gave our testimony that thanks to the fact that the healing fires have been done in that place for twenty years, the place has been protected. The following night, Master Vasant appeared in Francisco's dream and said: "I do not know when and of what magnitude the second avalanche will be. Be alert, especially when it rains, and do Om Tryambakam Homa."

Note by the poster: The cabañas are fully operational.

It should be noted also, that today, in certain households in the Cochiquaz valley, the Agnihotra rituals are practiced rather seriously. Learned from some visiting guru from India to chant mantras (at every sunrise/sunset, daily), and to burn special lamps, and so on -- this is quite interesting sight. You believe it or not.

It may be of further interest, that this basic octagonal hut (see photo above) is the "Sun Temple", and no less than that.

Two of the buildings that are noted on the following "for sale" ad are:

* Dojo (Sala octagonal de reuniones de caña y coirón)
* Templo meditación (Sala octagonal de barro y totora)

You believe it or not, but the 18-km long road to the Cochiguaz valley proper starts in the small town of Monte Grande.

Situated in which, there is one small.. say, "establishment", called "Galería de Arte Zen" { elquizen.blogspot.com }

Having entered this Galería, there is a bell, you know:

It must be sounded by a wooden stick, suspended near it. Maybe, to notify the owner(s), that Rune has arrived?.. Anyways, having waited for 10 - 15 minutes.. Rune did strike it.. by the wooden stick provided.. and that strike was rather strong one, really. You believe it or not, but though the bell was struck -- nobody came!.. After waiting for another 10 - 15 minutes, Rune left the shop..

How many people bath in the river Cochiguaz for some mystical purpose?.. You believe it or not -- but quite a few, actually. :)

Though, the river is lacking any convenient (i.e. that would not be accessible through some private property) bathing spots.

Thus, the right-hand side (if you walk upstream, I mean) of the Cochiguaz road is almost entirely barb-wire fenced..
