Piñera wasnt rich- he was a high skilled white collar worker in a little chilean bank (now doesnt exist banco de talca). he was a great bussiness man. but he wasnt a real enterpreneur he was a great financial player (buying and selling actions). he obviously had an advantage over the average chilean because he studied in harvard, but his father wasnt rich, just a public oficce room worker.

in the other hand public system in chile have some great sited as http://www.sii.cl who is probably one of the easiest places in the world to pay your taxes. some of you maybe live in the country but dont know anything about it. or just know something about local villages, little towns or your expats friends. you dont know anything about this country. mostly frank pintor. but its seems that you dont live in chile but in the wonderfull venezuela.
call centers are massively leaving the country just because they pay 600 dollars here and 300 dollars in peru, or 400 in colombia. in spain they pay 1,200 dollars and thats the main reason why many of those call centers came to chile 10 years ago. but really guys, call centers are shit no one country will advance with that kind of industry. nothing related with real software industry- back in 1989 last year of pinochet the sotware industry was rising here, but the concertacion goverment didnt help the industry at all. but now is the right no one of you have lived in chile under right wing, i can bet that the software industry here will boom as in the late 80s. anyway bigger latin american software company is chilean, called sonda http://www.sonda.cl

Yeah, and his father was just a poor diplomat:

And his grandfather was just a humble Lawyer (abogado José Manuel Piñera Figueroa)

Come on, you don't get much more establishment than Fulbright Scholar don Miguel Juan Sebastián Piñera Echenique....
I have nothing against any of that, but please get your facts straight before making these sorts of statements.

well i know exactly who they are. and i also know that josé piñera carvallo was an corfo employee who was absolutely middle class- also frei father was a middle class politic. when frei was elected president he put his friend jose piñera as diplomat. he was well conected but not rich, there are also some good stories about how sebastian gave money to his father. they were definitely not rich. but jose piñera carvallo gave some great chances to study in USA to his sons (sebastian in harvard and jose piñera jr. in chicago university). my grandfather was way richer than sebastian piñera father, but that is how the life goes. some get richer some get poorer- of course i wasnt talking that sebastian was a poor kid of the poblaciones. but now is the third or fourth richer man in chile (after luksic family, angelini family, horst paulmann, matte family). thats a big jump. he is about 2,000 million dollars or probably more this year (cause the current bolsa de santiago boom)
